In today’s guide, we’ll walk you through the process of running Windows on Your Phone using the RDP we created in our last video. It’s a game-changer that can give you access to a Windows environment right from your phone or tablet. So, without further ado, let’s dive into the steps.

Step 1: Copy the Login Credentials
Before we start, make sure you’ve copied the login credentials for the RDP we created in our previous video. You’ll need these to access your Windows desktop.
Step 2: Install the Remote Desktop App
- On your device, whether it’s an Android or iOS, head over to the Play Store or App Store. Search for “Remote Desktop” and install the application developed by Microsoft Corporation. This app will enable you to connect to your Windows RDP.
- Once the installation is complete, open the Remote Desktop app.
- Upon opening the app, you’ll likely be presented with license agreements and policies. Go ahead and accept these to proceed.
Step 3: Running Windows on Your Phone
On the remote desktop app
- Click on the plus icon (âž•), and select “Add PC.”
Paste the IP Address
- Remember the IP address you copied from the GitHub RDP? Paste it under the “PC Name” section and save. This step links your device to the RDP.
Select Your Newly Created PC
- You should now see your newly created PC in the list of available connections. Select it to proceed.
Enter Your Username and Password
- Remember, these are the same credentials you copied from the GitHub RDP. Enter your username and password.
- Once you’ve entered your credentials, click on “Continue.” This will initiate the connection to your Windows RDP.

- Congratulations! You’ve successfully connected to your Windows RDP. You can now use Windows on your phone or tablet. It’s that simple!
Advantages and disadvantages of running Windows on Your Phone
Advantages
Accessibility: Running Windows on your phone grants you access to a familiar Windows environment on the go. You can access your files, applications, and desktops from anywhere with an internet connection.
Productivity: This setup can significantly enhance your productivity, as you can seamlessly switch between your desktop and your mobile device, eliminating the need for carrying a laptop or other computing device.
Compatibility: Windows compatibility is a significant advantage. You can use Windows-specific software, tools, and applications, which might not be readily available on other operating systems.
Resource Efficiency: Running Windows on your phone means you don’t need a high-end phone to have a robust computing experience. The phone merely acts as a remote display, while the actual processing occurs on a remote server.
Security: Windows RDP connections are often secured using encryption, making it a secure way to access your desktop remotely.
Disadvantages
Internet Dependency: To access your Windows environment on your phone, you need a stable and reasonably fast internet connection. Poor connectivity can lead to lag and disconnections, making it frustrating to use.
Small Screen Limitations: While it’s convenient, the limited screen real estate of a phone can be challenging for certain tasks that are better suited for larger displays.
Touch Controls: Using a Windows environment on a touchscreen device like a phone can be less precise and more cumbersome for tasks that require precise mouse and keyboard input.
Battery Drain: Running Windows remotely can consume a significant amount of battery, which means you’ll need to have your charger handy if you plan on using this setup for an extended period.
